Job summary

O-I is seeking an Assistant Plant Electrical Engineer to support the Plant Engineer in leading salaried and hourly staff in all aspects of plant engineering, including installation, maintenance, and facilities. The role emphasizes strong electrical skills, furnace/maintenance leadership, and cross-functional communication.

Responsibilities include supervising contractors, inspecting systems, optimizing shift operations, and reducing downtime.

Qualifications

Requires trade school or bachelor’s degree in engineering.
Industrial electrical experience required.
5 years in a maintenance leadership role in a manufacturing facility; glass industry experience preferred.
Experience with furnace operations is a plus.
Effective communication across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and supervise all construction and service work performed by outside contractors.
Conduct periodic inspections of all plant systems, equipment, facilities and grounds.
Review shift operations, make decisions, and implement actions relative to changes on shifts that may impact processing, procedures, personnel, equipment, and customer requirements.
Track downtime and provide solutions to decrease downtime.
