Job summary

PPG Industries is seeking a Plant Electrical and Controls Engineer to design, install, maintain, and continuously improve plant control systems. You will diagnose electrical issues impacting operations, support PLC/DCS/HMI automation, and ensure safety and compliance across the plant.

Responsibilities include updating P&IDs and control narratives, leading instrument and sensor integration, and providing on-call technical support for 24/7 operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field with 3-5 years of experience in electrical/controls engineering within manufacturing or industrial environment.
• High School Diploma with 5-7 years' experience in electrical/controls engineering within manufacturing or industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, diagnose, and resolve issues related to plant PLC, DCS, and HMI based automation systems.
• Support integration of instrumentation systems including sensors, transmitters, flow meters, and analyzers.
• Maintain and update electrical and controls documentation including P&IDs, electrical schematics, and control narratives.
• Identify and implement automation and controls improvements to enhance process efficiency, product quality, and safety.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues and coordinate with maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Perform electrical load analysis, short circuit studies, and arc flash assessments to ensure safety and compliance.
• Manage electrical preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, and other electrical standards.
• Provide technical guidance and training to maintenance technicians and operators.
