Job summary

Sun Chemical Corporation, a leading global producer of packaging and graphic solutions, seeks an Environmental, Health & Safety Manager for its Kankakee facility. This role drives EHS/PSM programs, partners with plant leadership, and fosters a strong safety culture to reduce risk and support reliable operations.

The ideal candidate will combine strong EHS expertise with the ability to engage employees, lead corrective actions, and collaborate with corporate EHS teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of experience leading EHS/PSM programs in manufacturing, chemical, or industrial settings.
• Working knowledge of PSM principles, MOC, PHA, incident investigation, and workplace safety practices.
• Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to partner across Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and corporate functions.
• Strong computer and documentation skills.
• Experience supporting regulatory, ISO, or internal compliance audits.
• Knowledge of ISO standards and management systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support site environmental, health, safety, and PSM programs to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Partner with plant staff to identify safety risks, implement corrective actions, and reduce incidents.
• Promote near-miss reporting and participate in investigations, root-cause analyses, and follow-up actions.
• Support PSM activities including MOC, PHA, and PSSR.
• Ensure contractors receive safety training and comply with procedures and permitting.
• Collaborate to address deficiencies involving safety-critical equipment and processes.
• Oversee site safety training, documentation, and recordkeeping with ISO coordination.
• Monitor corrective actions from audits for timely resolution.
• Support process improvements using Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methods.
• Work with corporate EHS, technical, and engineering teams to reduce risk and improve reliability.
