Job summary

Sun Chemical's Group Engineering team is seeking a Process Safety Engineer II to drive process safety, risk reduction, and operational excellence across North American manufacturing sites.

In this role you will lead PSM activities, deliver safety improvements, manage capital projects from concept through startup, and collaborate with Operations, EHS, Maintenance, Procurement, and partners to ensure regulatory compliance and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years of process or project engineering experience in chemical industry.
• Strong experience with Process Safety Management (PSM).
• Knowledge of NFPA, API RP 520/521, AutoCAD, P&IDs, and project management tools.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead Process Safety Management (PSM) activities, including PHAs, risk assessments, PSSRs, and hazard reviews.
• Identify and implement safety, reliability, and process improvement solutions.
• Manage safety-related capital projects from concept through startup.
• Conduct HAZOPs, support Management of Change (MOC), and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with Operations, EHS, Maintenance, Procurement, and external partners.
• Support audits, investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
