The role covers journal entries, reconciliations, and project accounting across CWIP and PS&I, with collaboration from operations and project managers. The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and 1–2 years of experience, with solid GAAP knowledge, ERP system proficiency, and strong Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of GAAP including technical accounting principals.
• Familiarity with regulatory accounting practices as well as FERC accounting preferred
• Strong computer skills a must. Experience with ERP accounting systems, fixed asset systems and Excel.
• Ability to independently research and resolve issues, presenting potential solutions to management.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Attention to detail and high degree of organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Monthly Close: Prepare standard and non-recurring journal entries for plant balances; Complete account reconciliations; Perform SOX controls; Prepare balance sheet variance analyses; Respond to auditor requests.
• Evaluation of Capital Projects (CWIP/Jobbing/PS&I): Monitor CWIP balances; Follow up with project managers on balances; Prepare entries for transfer between categories; Allocate overheads.
• Release Orders: Release orders in SAP for new projects; Review projects per DOA policy; Set up cost allocations.
• Record Retirements & Unitize Projects: Record assets and retirements; Follow up on completion notices.
• Process Improvements (Reducing Risk and Manual Processes): Test system developments; identify risk reduction opportunities; perform other duties as requested.
