Job summary

United Utility Services is seeking a Fixed Asset Accountant in Charlotte, NC to manage asset records, depreciation, and capital expenditures in a multi-entity environment. You will partner with finance, fleet, operations, and procurement to ensure accurate capitalization and robust asset controls.

The role demands strong accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and experience with fixed asset subledgers, CIP, and ERP systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• CPA or CMA certification preferred.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of accounting experience, including fixed asset accounting.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and fixed asset standards.
• Experience maintaining fixed asset subledgers and reconciling to the general ledger.
• Experience with capital expenditure accounting, construction‑in‑progress, and depreciation forecasting.
• Proficiency with ERP and fixed asset accounting systems; Sage or similar ERP preferred.
• Experience with Fleetio or other asset management software preferred.
• Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, data analysis, and reconciliation of large data sets.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Review, update fixed asset accounting policies, procedures, and documentation.
• Record and categorize newly acquired fixed assets with asset class, useful life, location, and ownership.
• Maintain fixed asset subledgers and depreciation records.
• Prepare fixed asset journal entries for acquisitions, adjustments, reclassifications, transfers, impairments, retirements, and disposals.
• Perform reconciliations of fixed asset subledgers to the general ledger and resolve discrepancies.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close for fixed asset accounts, including CIP and gains/losses on disposal.
• Prepare audit-ready schedules, analyses, rollforwards related to fixed assets.
• Support financial statements and analyses related to fixed assets through cross-functional collaboration.
