Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) is seeking a Plant Accountant to organize and coordinate general accounting activities for the plant. Ensure the complete and accurate general ledger, prepare basic financial reports, and analyze variances.

Responsibilities include monthly close, forecasting, cost reporting, payroll processing, and training accounting staff. This role supports SOX controls and operates in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Education equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• Three years of experience in a business office/accounting department with GL, payroll, and/or AP exposure preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP concepts and internal controls.
• Experience with invoicing, credit/collections, expense reporting, AP, payroll, and GL systems.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes with estimates and accruals.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, reports, and variances.
• Maintain general ledger accounts and reconcile financial records.
• Manage customer accounts, credit issuances, and collections activities.
• Oversee hourly payroll processing in compliance with policies and law.
