The Town of Vail, in the Community Development Department, seeks a knowledgeable Plans Examiner to ensure residential and commercial projects meet adopted codes and life-safety standards. You will review drawings, permits, and technical documents, guiding projects through permitting with contractors, architects, and Town staff.

Partial remote work may be discussed with candidates. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma, 5+ years in code-related fields, ICC Building and Residential

Formación

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Five+ years in code enforcement, code compliance, construction, or related field.
• Five+ years reading and interpreting construction drawings, specs, building codes.
• ICC Building Plans Examiner and Residential Plans Examiner certifications.
• Ability to obtain three additional ICC certifications within 18 months of hire.
• Valid Colorado driver's license throughout employment.

Responsabilidades

• Review commercial and residential construction plans for compliance.
• Evaluate compliance with building codes including life safety.
• Interpret codes and communicate findings clearly.
• Collaborate with applicants, design professionals, contractors, and Town staff.
• Provide excellent customer service during permitting and plan review.
• Conduct inspections of building, plumbing, mechanical as needed.
• Maintain records of plan reviews, inspections, and code compliance.
