The Town of Vail seeks an experienced Plans Examiner to review construction plans and permit applications, ensuring code compliance and life-safety standards. You will work closely with contractors, architects, engineers, and Town staff to guide projects through the permitting process.

The role requires extensive knowledge of ICC codes, strong communication skills, and the ability to interpret complex drawings and technical documents. Partial remote work may be discussed with candidates.

Formación

• Five+ years of experience in code enforcement, code compliance, construction, project management, or closely related field.
• Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings, specs, codes, and standards.
• ICC Building Plans Examiner and Residential Plans Examiner certifications required; ability to obtain three more ICC certifications within 18 months.

Responsabilidades

• Review commercial and residential construction plans for new buildings, renovations, additions, alterations, and repairs.
• Evaluate compliance with adopted building codes, including structural safety, accessibility, fire protection, egress, and life safety.
• Interpret applicable building codes, ordinances, and standards and communicate findings clearly to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with applicants, design professionals, contractors, and Town departments to resolve code-related questions.
• Provide exceptional customer service throughout the permitting and plan review process.
• Conduct building, plumbing, mechanical, and related inspections as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of plan reviews, inspections, and code compliance activities.
