Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Four (4) years of related experience.
• Fingerprinting required.
• Must obtain Provisional Certification as a Plans Examiner within 120 days of hire.
• Must obtain Standard License within two (2) years from issuance of Provisional Certification.

Responsibilities

• Examine permits and construction plans for compliance with building codes and zoning.
• Review FEMA regulations for elevations and flood resistant methods.
• Assess site development plans for construction type and accessibility.
• Approve plans that meet code requirements and issue permits.
• Communicate with contractors, homeowners, engineers, and architects about code issues.
