Job summary

Mecklenburg County Government's LUESA division seeks a CIRC Plans Examiner to assist customers with code review and evaluation of architectural blueprints, engineering calculations, and construction documents for compliance with North Carolina codes. You will provide direct technical guidance to developers, architects, and contractors through the permitting process.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or related field required.
Minimum of six years of progressive experience in code application in building trades.
NC Plans Examiner or Inspector certification within one year of hire; valid NC/SC driver's license.

Responsibilities

Examine design documents to ensure compliance with building codes and public safety.
Approve or reject construction documents using code references and policy.
Provide consultation to designers, developers, and contractors on permit processes.
Evaluate projects for time estimates and assist with plan examinations.
Support code making processes and participate in professional education activities.
