Job summary

Amarillo is seeking a Plans Examiner to intake and review construction documents for compliance with City Ordinances and to assist inspection personnel for on-site compliance. You will help the public with permits, licensing inquiries, and policies.

The role involves issuing various permits, maintaining address databases, and performing field inspections as needed. Candidates must have a high school diploma and pursue ICC/IECC certifications within one year, plus a valid Texas driver's license.

Qualifications

Requires High School Diploma or equivalent.
Must obtain ICC Residential Plans Examiner and IECC within 1 year.
Valid Texas Driver’s License or must be obtained within 2 months.

Responsibilities

Intakes and reviews construction documents for compliance with City Ordinances.
Assists the public by providing information for permits, licenses and policies.
Issues Sign Permits, Manufactured Home Permits, Certificates of Occupancy Permits and other licenses.
Maintains base maps, plat files and street address databases.
Performs field inspections for code compliance as needed.
