The City of Amarillo is seeking a Plans Examiner to intake and review construction documents for compliance with all applicable laws, codes and rules, and to assist inspection personnel with on-site compliance with City ordinances.
This position requires a High School Diploma, ICC Residential Plans Examiner certification, and International Energy Conservation Code certification within one year, plus a valid Texas driver’s license. CAD/GIS knowledge is preferred.

Under supervision, intakes and reviews construction documents for compliance with all applicable laws, codes and rules and assists inspection personnel as needed for on-site compliance with City Ordinances.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. The employee works in a dynamic environment that requires the employee to be sensitive to change and responsive to changing goals, priorities, and needs. Normal work hours are Monday-Friday 8 am - 5 pm.
