Job summary

Bureau Veritas is seeking a Plans Examiner to ensure safety, compliance, and quality of construction plans across Southern California and neighboring regions. You will review plans for IBC/IRC compliance and work with architects, engineers, and contractors to resolve deficiencies.

Ideal candidates hold ICC Plans Examiner certification (or can obtain it), a related bachelor’s degree, and proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam.

Qualifications

• Experience in plan review and code compliance.
• ICC certification or ability to obtain within a specified period.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
• Strong knowledge of IBC/IRC and other codes.

Responsibilities

• Review building plans, specifications, and permits for code compliance.
• Verify structural integrity, fire safety, accessibility, and energy efficiency.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to address deficiencies.
• Provide guidance and training to staff and stakeholders on code requirements.
• Represent the department professionally to ensure a culture of compliance and safety.
• Perform field inspections as needed and document findings.
