Pay Range

$38.77 - $56.37 Hourly. Midpoint $47.57 Hourly. Starting salaries generally fall between the minimum and midpoint of the range. Each offer depends on the candidate’s experience and qualifications, internal pay equity, and available budget. Salary offers are negotiated individually based on these factors.

Position Overview

Plan Examiner

Performing intermediate skilled administrative support work reviewing building and construction plans for compliance, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Building Official ("supervisor"). The position is open until filled.

Supplemental Information

Selection will be based on overall qualifications, skills testing (if applicable), and an interview process. The final candidate selected will be subject to a comprehensive background/reference check commensurate to the position.

Minimum Qualifications

Special Requirements

  • Valid driver's license.
  • Valid International Code Council (ICC) certification as a Plans Examiner or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire.
Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED, and three (3) years' experience in plans examining, permitting, or building inspection, including one (1) year experience in building construction, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience performing commercial plans reviews.
  • Valid International Code Council (ICC) certification as a Commercial Plans Examiner.
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu.
