Job summary

The City of Dania Beach is seeking a Planning and Zoning Manager to lead the Community Development team. The ideal candidate will supervise staff and guide advanced planning and zoning activities, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and coordinating with City Boards and external entities.

Responsibilities include managing complex projects, GIS coordination, budget participation, and on-site inspections.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Urban & Regional Planning or related field.
Minimum five (5) years of full time progressively responsible experience in municipal planning and zoning functions.
Minimum five (5) years of supervisory experience.
Possession of a valid driver’s license with overall good driving record; if out of state, must obtain Florida license within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

Supervise planning and zoning staff within the Community Development Department.
Liaise between the City and government, professional, and business entities.
Manage complex planning projects with research and analysis.
Ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws.
Oversee large-scale development proposals and environmental studies.
Advise the Community Development Director and City Boards on planning matters.
Coordinate GIS functions to meet department mapping needs.
Participate in budget preparation and fiscal planning.
Conduct field site visits and provide customer service to residents and developers.
