Job summary

Alamosa County in Colorado seeks a Planning Technician/Planner I or II to assist daily operations of the Land Use & Building Department. You will interact with the public, process land use applications, and help enforce the Land Use Development Code and Comprehensive Plan.

The role includes data collection, research for long-range planning, and handling routine professional duties with supervision for Planner I and more complex tasks for Planner II.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of laws, codes, and regulations for planning and development.
• Geography and spatial description knowledge.
• English language proficiency; bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
• Computer proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, databases.

Responsibilities

• Provide information, process applications, and perform inspections to ensure code compliance.
• Assist in policy drafting and amendment in land use regulations and the comprehensive plan.
• Public engagement and technical assistance on planning issues.
• Review site plans, subdivisions, use permits, variances, and other land use applications.
• Maintain records and prepare staff reports and presentations.
