The City of McAllen seeks a Planner II to perform research, write planning reports, and present findings to advisory boards on a variety of planning issues.
Under general supervision, you will conduct planning studies, draft development ordinances and policies, review subdivisions and site plans, and engage with the public to inform rezoning and conditional use decisions in McAllen, a fast-growing city with strong community values.
Under general supervision, the Planner II performs research, writes planning reports, and makes presentations to advisory boards on a regular basis, covering a diversity of planning issues involving both short range development reviews and/or long range planning functions. The position requires conducting planning studies based upon the fundamental planning theory and methods molded into the local practice of planning based upon city ordinances and policies. Typical duties may include field inspections, drafting development ordinances and policies, annexation service plans, neighborhood land use studies, subdivision and site plan reviews, meeting with the public, analyzing and drafting recommendations for rezoning and conditional use permits.
