Job summary

Kimley-Horn in Charlotte, NC is seeking planning students to join our team for an in-person internship. You will collect and analyze demographic and land use data, support planning studies, and develop maps using ArcGIS Pro.

This internship provides hands-on experience across transportation and land-use projects with mentorship from project managers and exposure to regulations and client workflows.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Planning degree (Bachelor's or Master's).
• Majors: City and Regional Planning, Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Assist with collecting and analyzing demographic, economic, and land use data.
• Support the development of planning, transportation, economic development, and land use studies.
• Create maps and perform spatial analyses using ArcGIS Pro to support land use assessments.
• Collaborate with project managers and cross-disciplinary teams to deliver client-focused solutions.
• Familiarize with regulations and Kimley-Horn practices and standards.
• Coordinate with municipal and state agencies as needed.

Overview

Kimley-Horn is looking for Planning students to join our Charlotte, North Carolina (NC) office! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

• Collect and analyze demographic, economic, and land use data.
• Support the development of planning, transportation, economic development, and land use studies.
• Create maps and prepare spatial analyses in ArcGIS Pro to support land use assessments.
• Solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines to produce our clients’ visions for the future built environment.
• Develop familiarity with the federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kimley-Horn’s and our client’s practices, procedures, and standards.
• Coordinate with various municipal and state agencies.

Qualifications

• In the process of receiving a Planning Degree (Bachelors or Masters) from an accredited program in or of the following majors:
  • City and Regional Planning
  • Urban Planning
  • Transportation Planning
  • Or Other Related Major
