Job summary

Kimley-Horn is seeking planning students to join our Long Beach, CA office. This position is not remote and offers hands-on exposure to pre-construction planning, permitting, and land-use analysis across multiple projects.

You will work with project managers and planners to evaluate proposals, ensure zoning compliance, and develop planning studies while learning federal, state, and local regulatory practices relevant to our clients and the built environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Planning degree (Bachelors or Masters) in City and Regional Planning, Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, or related major.

Responsibilities

• Support project managers and collaborate across disciplines to align client visions.
• Familiarize with federal, state, and local regulations and company practices.

Overview

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the pre-construction planning, modification, permitting, and analysis for multiple projects ranging in size and scope.
• Solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines to produce our clients' visions for the future built environment.
• Develop familiarity with the federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kimley-Horn's and our client's practices, procedures, and standards.
• Evaluate development proposals to identify compliance with zoning regulations.
• Prepare planning and land use studies.
• Coordinate with various municipal and state agencies.

Qualifications

• In the process of receiving a Planning Degree (Bachelors or Masters) from an accredited program in of the following majors:
  • City and Regional Planning
  • Urban Planning
  • Transportation Planning
  • Or Other Related Major

Hourly Range:

$30 - $31
