Job summary

Kimley-Horn is seeking Planning students to join our Transportation team in Long Beach, CA. This on-site internship focuses on early planning, permitting support, and regulatory research.

You will work with project managers and cross-disciplinary teams to analyze proposals, prepare planning studies, and coordinate with city/state agencies, gaining hands-on experience in a leading consulting firm.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited Planning degree program (Bachelor's or Master's).
• Majors listed: City and Regional Planning, Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, or related.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to pre-construction planning, modification, permitting, and analysis for multiple projects.
• Assist project managers and collaborate across disciplines to realize client visions for the built environment.
• Develop familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations and Kimley-Horn practices.
• Evaluate development proposals to identify zoning compliance.
• Prepare planning and land use studies.
• Coordinate with municipal and state agencies.

Kimley-Horn is looking for Planning students to join our Long Beach, California (CA) office on the Transportation team! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the pre-construction planning, modification, permitting, and analysis for multiple projects ranging in size and scope.
• Solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines to produce our clients’ visions for the future built environment.
• Develop familiarity with the federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kimley-Horn’s and our client’s practices, procedures, and standards.
• Evaluate development proposals to identify compliance with zoning regulations.
• Prepare planning and land use studies.
• Coordinate with various municipal and state agencies.

Qualifications

• In the process of receiving a Planning Degree (Bachelors or Masters) from an accredited program in of the following majors:
  • City and Regional Planning
  • Urban Planning
  • Transportation Planning
  • Or Other Related Major

Hourly Range:

$30 - $31
