Job summary

Coastal Engineering Associates, Inc. seeks an experienced Planning Director to lead and grow our Planning/CRA practice as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

You will drive planning across residential subdivisions, commercial and industrial developments, with a focus on Hernando, Pasco, Citrus, and Sumter Counties, coordinating with engineering to deliver integrated solutions. The Planning Director provides strategic direction for all planning activities and directly leads complex land use

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Urban Planning, Land Use Planning, or a related field.
• 10 years of progressive planning experience with at least 3 years in leadership or management.
• Familiarity with Hernando, Pasco, Citrus and Sumter County regulations and plans.
• Experience managing entitlement, rezoning, and comprehensive plan amendments in west-central Florida.
• Ability to manage multiple projects independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written, verbal, and public presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow Coastal's Planning/CRA practice with hands-on leadership.
• Direct entitlement, zoning, and comprehensive plan amendment processes for various projects.
• Draft and review planning narratives, staff reports, redlines, and hearings materials.
• Serve as liaison to county/municipal planning departments, officials, and staff.
• Represent Coastal at planning and zoning hearings and BOCC meetings.
• Maintain client relationships from concept to approval.
• Conduct feasibility studies and due diligence to support development.
• Advise executive leadership on planning strategy, regulatory changes, and growth opportunities.
