Babcock & Wilcox in Akron, Ohio is seeking a Project Scheduler to lead advanced planning and scheduling across projects. You will develop Level 3/4 schedules, manage resource loading, and coordinate with multiple departments to keep projects on track.

The position requires a technical or business degree, 5–7 years of scheduling experience, and proficiency in Primavera P6 and MS Office. A background in power, process, or chemical industries is preferred.

  • Ability to translate project and engineering execution activities into a detailed schedule.
  • Experience with the power, process or chemical industry from an engineering perspective is preferred.
  • Must be adaptable and able to work in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop & maintain the Level 3/4 project schedule on each project using template schedules and knowledge of engineering execution.
  • Coordinate changes in the schedule with Project & Department Managers.
  • Maintain resource loading, manhour tracking, loadboard and utilization with department managers.
  • Collaborate with Proposal, engineering disciplines, Estimating, Procurement, and Scheduling departments.
  • Collect data and updates, provide progress updates, inputs, and produce schedule reports.
  • Perform scheduling studies and what-if scenarios.
  • Handle resource loading and man-hour tracking.
  • Conduct earned value and productivity analysis.
  • Carry out all assigned duties.

Job description

The Project Scheduler performs advanced aspects of planning/scheduling, project controls and administrative scheduling functions with minimal supervision. The Project Scheduler is responsible for developing and maintaining the Level 3/4 as well as Level 2/3 summary Project Schedules on all projects.

The Project Scheduler is responsible for resource loading the schedule at the appropriate level and working with the Department Managers to ensure that resources are available to maintain the scheduled activities.

  • Responsible for developing & maintaining the Level 3/4 Project Schedule on each project using template schedules, previous schedules, knowledge of engineering execution, and interfacing with the department managers to meet or exceed deadlines to keep the project on Schedule
  • Coordinate changes in the Schedule with the Project & Department Managers
  • Working directly with Project & Department Managers to maintain resource loading, manhour tracking, loadboard efforts and utilization efforts
  • Working directly with other B&W departments such as Proposal, various engineering disciplines, Estimating, Procurement, and Scheduling
  • Collect data and updates from various sources and provide progress update, data inputs, and produce schedule reports.
  • Perform scheduling studies and what-if scenarios.
  • Responsible for resource loading and person-hour tracking.
  • Perform various types of analysis including earned value analysis and productivity analysis.
  • All duties assigned.
Requirements
  • Position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in any Technical or Business Discipline
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience as Planner Scheduler or Engineering Lead in directing schedule activities
  • Have a background in the power, process, or chemical industry
  • Knowledge of project execution
  • Proficient at Primavera P6 as well as the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to translate project & engineering execution activities into a detailed schedule
  • Knowledge of the power, process or chemical industry from an engineering perspective
  • Must be adaptable and able to work within a dynamic work environment.
