Job summary

The City of Dallas is seeking a Planner II focusing on Conservation Districts to protect historic character and guide planning studies. Under a Chief Planner, you’ll review architectural plans for residential structures, engage communities, and implement conservation district designations to preserve neighborhood identity.

Responsibilities include preparing long-range land use studies, presenting recommendations, and coordinating boundary adjustments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Planning or related field.
• Two (2) years of professional level experience in planning or related work.
• Background or demonstrated interest in historic preservation, architecture, or architectural history.

Responsibilities

• Prepares long-range land use and neighborhood improvement studies to guide future development.
• Reviews zoning applications for accuracy and compliance with ordinances.
• Prepares and presents recommendations to the City Plan Commission and other groups.
• Engages with communities at meetings to obtain feedback on land use issues.
• Responds to inquiries from citizens and city officials to expedite services.
• Coordinates materials for boundary adjustments and annexations with other jurisdictions.
• Administers planning-related programs and provides professional direction.
• Assists with conservation district designations and related mapping.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
