Job summary

Aggreko in Bridgeport, NJ is seeking a Planned Maintenance Technician to perform preventive maintenance and repair of power generators, HVAC equipment, and oil‑free air compressors. Based at the Bridgeport service center, you will travel daily in a company vehicle, with overtime and occasional travel as needed.

The role requires a high school diploma, 2+ years on diesel generators or HVAC equipment, and the ability to read schematics.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of experience on diesel power/NG generators and/or commercial HVAC equipment, chillers, inspections, maintenance and repairs.
• Experience calculating nominal/effective tonnage and reading schematics.

Responsibilities

• Based out of Bridgeport, NJ service center and travel daily in company vehicle.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs of generators, diesel engines, electrical equipment, chillers, HVAC and oil‑free air compressors.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures at shop and on customer locations; perform repairs.
• Work alone or with another technician to set up and operate equipment at shop and customer sites.
• Possible overtime, weekend work, and occasional travel.

What you'll do

• You will be based out of our Bridgeport, NJ service center and work in the field with local travel daily in your company vehicle.
• You may work overtime and weekends and will have occasional travel.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs of power generators, diesel engines, electrical distribution equipment, chillers, HVAC equipment and/or oil‑free air compressors.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures at the shop and on customer locations, and handle the repairs.
• Work alone or teamed with another technician to set up and operate equipment at the shop and on customer sites.

Qualifications

• High School diploma/GED.
• 2+ years of experience working on diesel power/natural gas generators and/or commercial HVAC equipment, chillers, performing inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
• Experience with calculating nominal and effective tonnage and/or kW requirements, along with reading and knowing schematic.
• Based on customer requirements, may be required to obtain and maintain a TWIC card or valid DOT medical card.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to move or lift objects typically less than 75 lbs.

Essential Job Requirements

• Availability to work the assigned schedule, travel to work locations (if needed) and be on standby for work outside of regularly scheduled shifts.
• Must be able to stand, walk, and sit for prolonged periods of time and walk over uneven terrain with functional balance that does not require any special assistive devices.
• Must be able to move the extremities and spine through a functional range of motion that will permit work to be safely performed from ground/floor level to full overhead level.
• Must have good finger dexterity to manipulate small items, functional hand‑eye coordination, and functional grip with adequate strength to safely hold tools and stair railing or ladders.
• Must be able to safely meet the physical demands outlined in the Essential Physical Capacities Assessment and pass the post‑offer physical abilities assessment, which includes being able to lift 60 lbs, push/pull 80 lbs, carry 60 lbs, climb stairs and ladders as well as a combination of climbing while carrying objects 15 lbs, stoop, kneel and squat.
