Job description

The supervisor will have a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work and must be licensed to practice social work in Ohio. A minimum of 2 years experience in foster care is required. The supervisor of social service personnel is competent to: assess the needs of service recipients; identify and assess the resources available to meet those needs; and understand the legal and policy requirements governing service delivery.

Must complete required background checks including BCI/FBI with no record of forbidden offenses listed in OAC 5180:2-5-09. As part of the BCI/FBI background checks necessary for employment, in compliance with new policies from the Ohio Department of Children & Youth (DCY), all employees, new hires, and interns will have background checks conducted specifically searching for charges of domestic abuse. If there are any charges of domestic abuse or new charges that occur during time of employment, the employee is subject to denial of employment in the case of prospective new hires or interns and termination of employment for hired staff members, whether employees, contractors, or interns.

Tasks may include:

• Supervise direct service social service staff, including therapists, assessors, youth specialists, interns, and case assistants through:
  • weekly to bi-weekly meetings;
  • delegation and oversight of work assignments;
  • ensuring service delivery is performed according to mission;
  • teaching and monitoring compliance to policies and procedures;
  • the review of youth progress, all reports and weekly visitation / transportation / progress reports as applicable;
  • instilling the agency’s service philosophy;
  • the provision of case consultation and in-service training as appropriate;
  • availability, support and guidance to staff;
  • identification of unmet training needs; and
  • ensuring case reviews are conducted at least quarterly or as required by current policy
• Supervise Bridges Program, CareSource respite program, and Ohio Rise Respite Program as assigned.
• Approve and sign all reports for assigned supervisees.
• Support and enhance staff’s ability to perform their jobs by teaching and modeling, as appropriate:
  • Technical knowledge and skills;
  • Work management and communication skills;
  • Conflict management skills; and
  • Active involvement in PQI processes.
• Provide crisis intervention, support and coverage to staff and foster parents as needed during business hours and as scheduled for on-call services.
• As assigned, oversee supervisees involved as part of the referral team and approve referrals for placement utilizing agency protocols.
• Maintain administrative file with up-to-date documentation of each supervisory session including:
  • Date and duration of each session; and
  • Brief outline or summary of what was discussed including case consultation.
• Implement agency procedures and program operation daily.
• Orientation and training of all new staff and recommendation to Executive Director when new staff is ready to work independently.
• Maintain training hours as required for professional licensing in foster care and adoption services to youth and families (as related to your specific position) in compliance with the Ohio CSWMFT Board, OAC, and COA standards.
