Burke County Social Services is seeking a Supervisor to lead a team of social workers providing foster care services. The role focuses on case management for minors in the agency's care, supporting families and foster providers to achieve legal permanence through reunification, custody, guardianship, or adoption.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in social work with 3+ years of social work or counseling experience.
• Master's degree in counseling with 3+ years of social work or counseling experience.
• Four-year degree in human services or related field with at least 15 semester hours in social work or counseling and 4+ years of experience.
• Equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Knowledge of Federal/State Child Welfare laws and policies and the judicial system.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and coordinate workflow.

Hiring Range: $67,246.00 - $80,683.00

Description of Work

This position is responsible for supervising a team of social workers who are providing foster care services. This includes, but not limited to case management activities aimed at working with minor children in the legal care of the agency, their families and foster care providers to achieve legal permanence through reunification, legal custody or guardianship or adoption; preparing for and presenting testimony in court on assigned foster care cases; coordinating and/or providing court-ordered supervised visitation between foster children and their families; and arranging a broad array of services to support foster families and families in the community, etc. Duties include coordination of work flow, case assignment, identifying and arranging for staff training needs, insuring quality of work performance and accurate program implementation. Also included are administrative personnel tasks such as interviewing applicants to fill social work job vacancies, employee work performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and conducting staff meetings.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

Supervisor in this position should have considerable knowledge in the methods and principles of supervision and social work administration as well as social work principles, techniques, and treatment modalities and practices and their application to specific casework and community problems. Supervisor should have a working knowledge of private and governmental community resources and ways in which these may assist clients. The supervisor must have a thorough knowledge of Federal/State Child Welfare laws, the judicial system, Federal, State, and local policies, relating to Family and Child Welfare Services. This position requires an ability to work effectively in a teamwork setting and maintain a cooperative and effective working relationship with team members, agency management and community professionals. Applicants must possess and be able to demonstrate sufficient computer skills.

Minimum Training and Experience Requirements

Master's degree from an accredited school of social work and three years of social work or counseling experience; or a master's degree in a counseling field and three years of social work or counseling experience; or four-year degree in a human services field or related curriculum including at least 15 semester hours in courses related to social work or counseling and four years of social work or counseling; or graduation from a four-year college or university and five years of experience in rehabilitation counseling, pastoral counseling, or a related human services field providing experience in the techniques of casework, group work, or community organization; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
