Job summary

OhioGuidestone is seeking a dedicated professional to support foster care assessment and administration in Berea, OH. This full-time hybrid role focuses on accurate documentation, timely home studies, and regulatory compliance across SACWIS and ODJFS guidelines.

You will collaborate with support services, supervisors, and foster families to ensure high-quality care, while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to program standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related human services field (LISW, LSW, or LPC preferred).
• Certified adoption assessor or eligible. Must begin certification within 6 months of hire.
• Minimum 1 year of administrative experience in social services, foster care, or adoption preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate OhioGuidestone values and ethics in daily work.
• Maintain confidential client records per privacy regulations.
• Review and approve home study reports and recommendations.
• Assist with home re-certifications within 30 days of assignment.
• Coordinate foster home transfers and addendums.
• Maintain SACWIS reports for each child in foster care.
• Stay updated on ODJFS rules and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Support assignment of home studies to assessors.
• Coordinate fingerprinting recertifications as required.
• Attend supervision, team, and interdepartmental meetings.
• Participate in state/county meetings for best practices.
• Build and maintain relationships with foster families.
• Participate in recruitment events to attract foster families.
• Provide onboarding and ongoing training for assessors.
• Monitor assessor performance and develop training plans.
• Audit foster parent files for state and federal reviews.
• Assist with investigations of abuse or safety concerns.

Essential Functions

• Demonstrate the values and guiding principles of OhioGuidestone every day, performing with the highest standards of excellence, integrity and ethics.
• Maintain organized, confidential client records in accordance with privacy regulations.
• Review and approve detailed written home study reports and recommendations.
• Assist with home re-certifications in accordance with expiration timelines, ensuring completion within 30 days of assignment.
• Coordinate foster home transfers and support the completion of foster home addendums, including changes such as new occupants and relocations.
• Maintain and enter SACWIS reports for each child placed in a treatment or medically fragile foster home.
• Stay informed of updates to ODJFS rules and support the implementation of changes, contributing to policy development to maintain regulatory compliance.
• Support the assignment and coordination of home studies to appropriate assessors.
• Coordinate fingerprinting recertifications as required.
• Attend and participate in regular supervision, team meetings, and interdepartmental collaboration such as placement and staff meetings.
• Participate in monthly state and/or county meetings to remain current on statewide practices, standards, and updates.
• Build and maintain positive service relationships with all foster families.
• Participate in recruitment events and activities to attract and retain qualified foster families.
• Deliver onboarding and ongoing training for foster care assessors.
• Monitor assessor performance and recommend professional development plans.
• Provide support for completion of individualized training plans for foster parents.
• Audit foster parent files and assist in preparation for state and federal reviews, including ODJFS and MEPA audits.
• Assist as needed with investigations involving allegations of abuse, neglect, safety concerns, or policy violations within foster care settings.
• May be involved in the planning, organization, and implementation of special events or department specific projects or seasonal program changes.
• Exhibit positivity, flexibility and a willingness to take on new responsibilities as requested or required.
• Demonstrate positive leadership, promote a team-based work environment and a culture of belonging.
• Present the Agency in the most positive light with all internal and external contacts.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related human services field (LISW, LSW, or LPC preferred).
• Certified adoption assessor or eligible. If assessor eligible, must begin certification process within 6 months of hire.

• Experience with SACWIS or similar case management systems is highly desirable.

• Possess a valid Ohio Driver’s License with a safe driving record and valid insurance.
• Successfully complete pre-employment screenings, including drug tests, background checks, and any other required assessments, such as a physical examination and TB test.
