Job summary

Vinalhaven School in Maine seeks a PK-12 Student Support Specialist. We are looking for a certified School Counselor or an LCSW/LMSW-CC who will support students’ academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and post-secondary success in our small island community.

The successful candidate will collaborate with students, families, teachers, and community agencies to provide counseling, coordinate referrals, and participate in SST/MTSS/IEP meetings while promoting a positive school climate.

Qualifications

• Certification for School Counselor in Maine or eligibility as LCSW/LMSW-CC.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience in school settings or with youth preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small-group counseling to PK-12 students.
• Help students develop social-emotional skills and self-advocacy.
• Coordinate crisis intervention and referrals to external resources.
• Participate in SST, MTSS, Section 504, and IEP meetings as needed.
• Support transitions across grade levels and programs.
• Build partnerships with families and community agencies.
• Promote a positive, inclusive school climate and restorative practices.
