Job summary

Affiliated Engineers, Inc. (AEI) invites you to join our Phoenix office as a Piping/Plumbing Engineer I for Summer 2027. You will be mentored by senior engineers and will help design energy-efficient building systems that support patient care, laboratories, and other critical facilities.

You’ll gain hands-on experience in load calculations, equipment sizing, and field surveys while developing leadership skills for future project teams and client interaction.

Qualifications

• BSME/BSAE from ABET-accredited school in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering.
• Minimum GPA of 2.5.
• Non-academic internship.
• Leadership involvement in extracurricular activities/student organizations preferred.
• EIT certification (FE) a plus.
• Internship experience in the MEP consulting engineering field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform load calculations, determine system sizing and layouts, calculate equipment sizes, and select equipment.
• Complete field surveys and review equipment shop drawings.
• As you gain project experience, lead piping/plumbing project teams, write specifications, participate in client meetings, and support construction-phase work.
