Job summary

Affiliated Engineers, Inc. (AEI) is seeking a Piping/Plumbing Engineer I to join our Chapel Hill office.

You will be mentored by senior engineers, while contributing to load calculations, sizing, equipment selection, and field surveys to advance energy-efficient building solutions. As you gain project experience, you’ll lead piping/plumbing teams, draft specifications, participate in client meetings, and support construction-phase activities for diverse healthcare, science and technology

Qualifications

• BSME/BSAE from ABET accredited school in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering.
• Minimum GPA of 2.5.
• Non-academic internship.
• Leadership involvement in extracurricular activities/student organizations preferred.
• EIT certification (Passed the FE exam) a plus.
• Internship experience in the MEP consulting engineering field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform load calculations, determine system sizing and layouts, calculate equipment sizes, select equipment, complete field surveys, and review equipment shop drawings.
• As you gain project experience, lead piping/plumbing project teams, write specifications, participate in project meetings with clients and other consultants, and support construction-phase work.
