Job summary

Affiliated Engineers, Inc. (AEI) in Seattle is seeking a Piping/Plumbing Engineer I for Summer 2027. You will work with and be mentored by experienced engineers while contributing to energy‑efficient building solutions and sustainable projects.

The role emphasizes load calculations, system sizing, equipment selection, and field surveys, with opportunities to grow into leading project teams and client meetings. A strong foundation in mechanical/architectural engineering is expected.

Qualifications

ABET‑accredited BSME or BSAE from ABET accredited school.
Minimum GPA of 2.5.
Non‑academic internship.
Leadership involvement in extracurricular activities/student organizations preferred.
EIT certification (Passed the FE exam) a plus.
Internship experience in the MEP consulting engineering field preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform load calculations, determine system sizing and layouts.
Calculate equipment sizes and select equipment.
Complete field surveys and review equipment shop drawings.
As you gain experience, lead piping/plumbing project teams and write specifications.
Participate in project meetings with clients and other consultants, and support construction‑phase work.
