Job summary

Affiliated Engineers, Inc. (AEI) seeks a Piping/Plumbing Engineer I for our San Diego office to help deliver energy-efficient building solutions and support environmental and healthcare projects.

Qualifications

• BSME/BSAE from ABET accredited school.
• Minimum GPA of 2.5.
• Non-academic internship.
• Leadership involvement in extracurricular activities preferred.
• EIT certification (FE) a plus.
• Internship experience in the MEP consulting engineering field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform load calculations and determine system sizing and layouts.
• Calculate equipment sizes and select equipment.
• Complete field surveys and review equipment shop drawings.
• Lead piping/plumbing project teams as you gain experience.
• Write specifications and participate in client/consultant meetings.
• Support construction-phase work as projects progress.

As a Piping/Plumbing Engineer I in our San Diego office for Summer 2027, you will help us empower our clients to achieve energy-efficient building solutions, save global environments, and create a better, greener future for all.

Here’s Why We Need You

In this role, you will initially work with and be mentored by experienced engineers and will yourself help to mentor designers. Your initial assignments will include performing load calculations, determining system sizing and layouts, calculating equipment sizes, selecting equipment, completing field surveys, and reviewing equipment shop drawings. As you gain project experience, you will take on a greater role in leading piping/plumbing project teams, writing specifications, participating in project meetings with clients and other consultants, and supporting construction-phase work.

Expertise Of Our Most Successful Piping/Plumbing Engineer I

• BSME/BSAE from ABET accredited school in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering.
• Minimum GPA of 2.5.
• Non-academic internship.
• Leadership involvement in extracurricular activities/student organizations preferred.
• EIT certification (Passed the FE exam) a plus.
• Internship experience in the MEP consulting engineering field preferred.
