Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking an Estimator for piping and related facilities in a hybrid work environment. The role involves assisting in lump sum, unit rate, and cost-plus estimates for water, wastewater, and heavy civil projects with complex piping and electrical systems.

Qualifications

• 5 to 10 years of relevant estimating experience.
• Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, MVR).
• Experience with process pipe, yard pipe systems, electrical and I&C systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review design scopes and derive quantities from docs and 3D models when available.
• Identify missing scope items for a complete estimate package.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, and equipment costs.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for scopes of work.
• Align estimates with work breakdown structures.
• Coordinate with estimating and design teams for scope alignment.
• Assess labor productivity and equipment needs for the scope.
• Support basis of estimate documentation with Lead Estimator.
• Maintain historical cost data and benchmarking of costs by type.
• Assist with indirect costs, contingency, escalation, and reviews.
