Job summary

DeBra-Kuempel, a leading MEP and piping contractor, seeks a Piping Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates, takeoffs, and proposals for electrical construction projects. You will collaborate with clients, vendors, and project teams to develop competitive bids and support successful execution.

The ideal candidate has strong electrical estimating experience, knowledge of design-build, budget, and conceptual estimates, and the ability to work across scopes and schedules.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• BS or MS in engineering or construction-related field preferred.
• 5+ years of estimation and project management experience in electrical construction.
• Ability to perform design/build, conceptual and budget estimates.
• Knowledge of construction industry and contract documentation.
• Working knowledge of federal, state, and city regulations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel.
• Familiarity with electrical/technical/construction programs.
• Familiarity with project management/document control software.
• Familiarity with construction/financial software packages.

Responsibilities

• Collect historical cost data to estimate costs for current or future projects.
• Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, or construction foremen to discuss estimates and resolve issues.
• Prepare estimates used by management for planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
• Analyze blueprints to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
• Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes to cost estimates.
• Attend walk-throughs, pre-bid and scope clarification meetings.
• Prepare scope letters and proposals.
• Review contract and bid documents; understand scope for project turnover.
• Assist project managers with takeoffs and pricing changes; complete quantitative take-offs and data entry.
• Maintain relationships with customers, GCs, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Coordinate junior staff in performing take-offs and obtaining quotes.
• Ensure documents are saved in estimating folders; escalate issues to Division Manager.
• Perform additional assignments as needed.
