Job summary

DeBra-Kuempel, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical/HVAC Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates for mechanical construction and HVAC retrofit projects by analyzing plans and specifications.

You will collaborate with clients, vendors, and project teams to develop competitive proposals and ensure estimate accuracy from bidding through turnover. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in CM/ME/Business Admin (or equivalent) and at least 5 years in mechanical estimating, with proficiency in EstMEP,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years in mechanical estimating or related construction role.
• Proficient with estimating software including AutoCAD Fabrication EstMEP, Quotesoft and BlueBeam.
• Strong knowledge of applicable federal, state and local construction regulations.

Responsibilities

• Develop accurate mechanical/HVAC estimates using cost data, benchmarks and estimating software.
• Review blueprints, specs and documents to determine labor, material and time requirements.
• Collaborate with clients, vendors, field teams, engineers and architects to refine scope and costs.
• Prepare and present cost estimates to support planning, scheduling and resource allocation.
• Conduct quantity take-offs and maintain estimating records and document control procedures.
• Review contracts and bid documents to ensure scope clarity and alignment for turnover.
• Lead pre-bid meetings, site walk-throughs and scope clarification discussions.
• Draft proposals and scope letters with pricing strategies for competitive positioning.
• Build relationships with clients, contractors and suppliers to support business development.
• Support change order pricing and contribute to process improvements and training.
