Job summary

DeBra-Kuempel is seeking a Piping Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates, takeoffs, and proposals for electrical construction projects. This role collaborates with clients, contractors, vendors, and project teams to develop bids and support project execution.

The ideal candidate has strong electrical estimating experience, construction industry knowledge, and the ability to produce design-build, budget, and conceptual estimates.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor or Master in engineering or construction related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of estimation and project management experience in electrical construction.
  • Ability to perform design/build, conceptual and budget estimates.
  • Knowledge of the construction industry and contract documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Familiarity with project management/document control software.
  • Familiarity with construction/financial software packages.

Responsibilities

  • Collect historical cost data to estimate costs for current or future projects.
  • Consult with clients, vendors, and teams to discuss estimates and resolve issues.
  • Prepare estimates used by management for planning and scheduling.
  • Analyze blueprints to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Confer with engineers, architects, owners, and subcontractors on changes to estimates.
  • Attend walk-throughs and pre-bid meetings.
  • Prepare scope letters and proposals; review contract documents.
  • Assist managers with takeoffs and pricing changes; perform quantitative take-offs.
  • Maintain relationships with customers, general contractors, vendors, and subs.
  • Coordinate junior staff for take-offs and bill of materials to vendors.

We are a mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP); building automation; and industrial piping contractor. Our team offers a variety of MEP and process piping services, including design-build engineering for new construction and renovation, installation and specialty construction, maintenance, and air balancing, start-up, and energy efficiency services.

Job Summary

DeBra-Kuempel isseekingto filla Piping Estimator position.The Estimatoris responsible forpreparingaccuratecost estimates, takeoffs, and proposals for electrical construction projects. This role collaborates with clients, contractors, vendors, and project teams to develop competitive bids and support successful project execution. The ideal candidate has strong electrical estimating experience, construction industry knowledge, and the ability to produce design-build, budget, and conceptual estimates.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Collect historical cost data to estimate costs for current or future products.
  • Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, or constructionforemento discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
  • Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
  • Attend walk-throughs, pre-bidand scope clarification meetings
  • Prepare scope letters and proposals
  • Review contract and bid documents; review and understand scope for project turnover
  • Assistproject managers with takeoffs and pricing changes in workComplete quantitative take-offsand computer entry
  • Maintainstrongrelationships with customers, General Contractors,vendorsand subcontractors
  • Coordinate the efforts of junior and staff-level resources in performing take-offs, issuing bills of material tovendorsand obtaining subcontractor quotes
  • Ensure documents are centrally saved in the company’s drive within the confidential estimating folder(s)
  • Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to the Division Manager withrecommendationfor resolution.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GEDrequired.
  • Bachelor of Science in or Master of Science in engineering or construction related fieldpreferred.
  • 5+ years of estimation and project management experience in the electrical construction industry.
  • Ability to perform design/build, conceptual and budget estimates
  • Knowledge of the construction industry and contract documentation.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and city regulations and guidelines.
  • Mustdemonstrateproficiencyin Microsoft Office applications, (i.e.Outlook,Wordand Excel)
  • Familiarity with electrical, technical, or construction programs.
  • Familiarity with project management/document control software.
  • Familiarity with construction/financial software packages.

Geographic Disclosure

Compensation Range: $80,000-$120,000
