Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a Piper to assemble HVAC piping in Dayton, TN. You will use hand tools and brazing techniques, including an oxyacetylene torch, to join copper pipes. You will measure, cut, and fit openings with precision and read tape measurements to 1/8 inch while following safety procedures.

This contract-to-hire role starts on first shift with training, then transitions to a long-term second shift (5:00 p.m. – 3:30 a.m.). Pay is $20.00 per hour, with weekly pay and standard benefits.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read a tape measure to 1/8 inch (can be taught on the job).
  • Familiarity with brazing and oxyacetylene torches is a plus.
  • Comfort working with flames and brazing in a manufacturing setting.

This role focuses on assembling piping systems for HVAC applications using hand tools and brazing equipment. You will work with copper piping, learn and apply brazing techniques, and use an oxyacetylene torch to bind metal components and create precise fit-ups. Essential Skills
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions accurately and consistently.
  • Comfort working with brazing torches and around open flames in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude for assembly and fabrication tasks.
  • Willingness to learn brazing of copper pipe and fitting metal connections.
  • Ability to work scheduled shifts, including second shift Monday through Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 3:30 a.m.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Ability to read a tape measure to 1/8 inch (can be taught on the job).
  • Experience fabricating aluminum, stainless steel, or carbon steel is a plus but not required.
  • Experience in general production or manufacturing is beneficial.
  • Experience as a machine operator is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with blueprint reading is helpful.
  • Experience with soldering, brazing, and using oxyacetylene torches is a plus.

Work Environment

The role is based in a clean manufacturing machine and assembly shop focused on HVAC piping systems. Training occurs on first shift from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with a 30-minute lunch break. The long‑term schedule is second shift, Monday through Thursday, from 5:00 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. Personal protective equipment such as steel‑toe footwear is required, along with appropriate work pants and shirts suitable for a manufacturing environment where brazing torches and machinery are in use.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
