Job summary

ONE Gas in Austin, TX is seeking an Inspector to perform routine inspection work on company pipelines and oversee contractors engaged in construction and maintenance of a pipeline system. This role requires handling logs, reports, and emergency response duties as part of daily operations.

You will work with tools and equipment, read maps and blueprints, and ensure compliance with federal/state standards. CDL preferred; travel to job sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Two to four years of relevant pipeline inspection experience; minimum one year required.
• Experience with the listed tools and equipment used in pipeline inspection and maintenance.
• Experience with basic arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Experience with construction and maintenance of transmission and distribution pipeline systems.
• Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and industry standards and regulations for pipeline construction and safety.
• Working knowledge of GOSM procedures, emergency response procedures, welding/plastic fusion policies, One Call System policies, and strong communication skills.
• Knowledge of regulators, meters, cathodic protection, and leakage survey devices.
• Experience reading and interpreting maps, atlas pages, blueprints, budget information, and job orders.
• Knowledge of basic computer operation and relevant software.
• Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English.

Responsibilities

• Inspect installation, maintenance, and removal work performed by contractors on transmission and distribution pipelines for compliance with standards.
• Assist with operation and maintenance of tools and equipment used in duties.
• Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
• Maintain logs and prepare reports (inspection logs, leak reports, job orders, training/ testing records, mileage, accidents/first aid, expense reports).
• Investigate customer orders and emergency situations (low pressure calls, leaks, fires, etc.).
• Review invoices for accuracy (pricing, quantities, materials).
• Maintain regular attendance; perform additional duties as assigned.
