Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Staff Pipeline Engineer to join project teams in Columbus, OH. You will design and modify pipeline systems for transmission and distribution projects, update CAD drawings, and compile data for client presentations.

Ideal candidates hold ABET-accredited degrees with pipeline experience, strong communication, and proficiency in AutoCAD and MicroStation. The role offers base salary with bonus eligibility and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program and 3 years of pipeline engineering experience required.
• Or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering Technology or related degree from ABET-accredited program, FE exam completed, and 3 years of pipeline engineering experience required.
• Or Master's Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering and 2 years of pipeline engineering experience required.
• Strong knowledge in standard pipeline engineering techniques and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment, and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
• Strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
• Strong computer skills (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation, ATF).
• Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Engineers in Training-EIT Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform pipeline design from conceptual phase through design completion.
• Modify and review production drawings for various pipeline projects.
• Design pipeline components to meet project needs.
• Apply knowledge of pipeline engineering concepts, codes, and procedures.
• Research and compile project data, write specifications, and assess feasibility.
• Update drawings with corrections in CAD software.
• Prepare information for client presentations and contract administration for pipeline designs.
• Perform field inspections, measurements, or calculations for clients.
• Comply with policies and standards.
