Job summary

Mott MacDonald in the United States is seeking an experienced pipeline engineer to lead design efforts for gas transmission projects. You will coordinate cross-disciplinary teams, review specifications, and ensure compliance with industry codes while developing HDD designs and supporting calculations.

The role emphasizes technical excellence, effective communication, and proactive project management within a hybrid in-office work model in North America.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering; EIT with PE licensure potential.
• Strong knowledge of pipeline regulatory frameworks (PHMSA, DOT 49 CFR 192).
• Experience with material selection, stress analysis, and applying client specs to designs.
• Understanding of ROW, workspace design, constructability, and geotechnical interfaces.
• Expertise in pipeline design, alignment sheets, crossings, routing, sizing, buoyancy, stress analysis, and hydrostatic testing.

Responsibilities

• Lead pipeline design and engineering for gas transmission projects.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary engineering teams to ensure project success.
• Provide technical recommendations for design, materials, and stress analysis.
• Develop HDD designs and design reports with supporting calculations.
• Review and approve engineering drawings; provide feedback for quality control.
• Review client specifications to pipelines and related infrastructure.
• Verify compliance with API/ASME codes and standards.
• Collaborate with client teams to align project objectives.
• Facilitate external meetings to review progress and manage actions.
