Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of heavy equipment operating experience in utility or pipeline construction.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Knowledge of trench safety, shoring, and sloping requirements.
  • Ability to read construction plans and grade stakes.
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred.
  • NCCER certification or equivalent is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Operate excavators, backhoes, loaders, trenchers, and skid steers to support pipeline installation.
  • Excavate trenches to specified depths and grades for water, sewer, and storm drain systems.
  • Safely maneuver equipment around active job sites while maintaining awareness of surroundings.
  • Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance of equipment.
  • Collaborate with site supervisors to execute project plans efficiently.
  • Follow safety protocols and OSHA regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Assist with manual labor tasks when equipment is not required.
  • Document daily activities and equipment usage.
  • Load/unload materials and tools; maintain a clean work area.
  • Ensure pipe alignment and bedding meet quality standards.
