Garney in LA-Rayville is hiring a Pipelayer with experience installing large diameter pipes for water, sewer, and storm drain systems. You will assemble, install and repair underground pipes and fittings, and assist with trenching, alignment, and testing in various assignments.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience installing large diameter pipes for water, sewer, storm drain.
• Willing to complete Garney-provided trainings and certifications (Rigging and Signaling, Confined Space, OSHA 10).
• Willing to travel and work overtime.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the area for pipe laying by directing trenching and grading.
• Perform Laborer duties as needed.
• Assist equipment Operators in placement of pipe.
• Direct equipment Operators with hand signals.
• Backfill around pipe using hand tools.
• Set up and work with pipe lasers and transits.
• Locate and mark pipe positions in underground trenches.
• Assemble and install valves, fittings and pipe (metal, PVC, ductile, concrete).
• Join pipes by screws, bolts, fittings, solder, and solvent cement.
• Test pipes for leakage and measure/cut pipe.
• Promote Garney Goals and Philosophies.
