Job summary

Fessler & Bowman, Inc. is seeking a skilled pipelayer to join our team in the Charlotte area. You will assist in installing storm drains, water, and utilities, load and unload tools, and help set up and grade structures on civil projects.

The role requires reading utility plans, following safety protocols, and readiness to travel to nearby job sites as needed. Strong teamwork and physical endurance are essential.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience with installation of waterline, storm sewer and/or sanitary sewer.
• Knowledge of elevations, reading and interpreting utility plans.
• Understanding trench safety.
• Experience setting up and using pipe lasers, sight transits and/or roto lasers.
• Knowledge of testing procedures for all types of utilities.

Responsibilities

• Aid in installation of storm drain, water, & utility lines.
• Load & unload tools.
• Hook pipe to machine using pipe choker.
• Assist in setting concrete boxes & manholes. Hooking chains to boxes and guiding structures to line & grade.
• Mortar opening around pipe in structures.
• Mortar & brick frame & grates to grade on structures.
• Set frames & grates on structures.
• Remove debris from structures & pour concrete inverts.
