Job summary

Garney Construction is seeking a skilled Laborer for underground piping projects in North Carolina. You will assemble, install, and repair underground pipes and fittings, direct trenching and grading, and assist equipment operators with pipe placement.

Responsibilities emphasize safety and accuracy; candidates must have two years of large diameter pipe installation experience, be willing to travel, complete trainings (Rigging/Signaling, Confined Space, OSHA 10), and pass background checks.

Qualifications

• Previous experience with pipe laying.
• Two years of experience installing large diameter pipes for water, sewer, and storm drain.
• Must complete Garney trainings and certifications such as Rigging and Signaling Certification, Confined Space Training Certification, and OSHA 10 hour.
• Must be willing to travel and work overtime.
• Post-offer physical and a site-specific background check may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, and repair underground pipes and fittings.
• Prepare pipe-laying areas by directing trenching and grading.
• Perform Laborer functions as required.
• Assist equipment Operators in placing pipe.
• Direct equipment Operators with hand signals.
• Backfill around pipe using hand tools.
• Set up and work with pipe lasers and transits.
• Locate and mark the correct position of pipe and fittings in underground trenches.
• Assemble and install valves, fittings, and pipe.
• Join pipes using screws, bolts, fittings, solder, and plastic solvent cement.
• Test pipes for leakage.
• Measure and cut pipe.
