Job summary

Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. is seeking a skilled pipefitter to assemble, install, and test piping systems in our shipyard.

You will work from plans, follow codes, and collaborate with other trades to ensure safety and quality. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED with 3–5 years of pipefitting experience, be able to read blueprints, and be prepared to pass a SMAW tack welding test to qualify for ABS certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus 3–5 years of pipefitting/plumbing experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and understand pipe craft drawings.
• Knowledge of welding, tools, and safety procedures (OSHA).
• Must pass SMAW tack welding test to become ABS certified.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, and test piping according to plans, specifications, and codes.
• Measure, cut, bend, and fit pipes, fittings, and valves as required.
• Install high-pressure steel pipes and fittings; verify operation.
• Repair or replace damaged piping and fabricate supports and control equipment.
• Test installed piping systems and complete final hook-ups and commissioning.
• Work with minimal supervision and collaborate with other trades.
