Job summary

Keel is seeking experienced pipefitter specialists to install, maintain, and repair ship piping systems aboard vessels. You will read complex blueprints, lay out sections, cut and bend pipes, and connect them to pumps and fixtures, ensuring tight seals and leak-free joints.

Advanced pipefitting skills, knowledge of shipboard equipment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision are essential. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with benefits including training opportunities

Qualifications

• 5+ years of pipefitting experience.
• Advanced-level pipefitting duties.
• Experience with shipboard piping systems is highly relevant.
• Blueprint and specification interpretation.
• Pipe cutting, threading, bending, and installation.
• Welding, soldering, and use of hand/shop tools.
• Valve repair and adjustment.
• Hydrostatic and pressure testing.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of shipboard piping systems and equipment.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, repair, and test ship piping systems (steam, hot water, hydraulic, air, oil).
• Read and interpret blueprints and specifications; lay out pipe sections.
• Cut, thread, bend pipes; install supports and connect to equipment.
• Solder and seal pipe joints; repair and adjust valves.
• Perform hydrostatic and other pressure tests; identify leaks.
• Troubleshoot piping systems and correct installation issues.
• Work independently with minimal supervision while following safety and quality standards.
