Job description

The Pipefitter/Fuser performs skilled journey-level work to install, modify, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain underground gas distribution piping systems. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and productivity standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Construct, install, and maintain piping systems, appurtenances, and equipment for gas.
• Maintain knowledge of system operation, study working drawings, and gas standards manuals.
• Perform all work safely, following company and customer policies and procedures.
• Interpret safety data sheets (SDSs) and identify chemicals using Hazardous Material Identification.
• Ensure preventive maintenance and inspection programs are performed and recorded.
• Read and follow fusion procedures, manufacturer instructions, and construction standards.
• Join piping through fusion, electrofusion, or mechanical joints.
• Use calibrated inspection tools.
• Verify specifications by performing QA tests and measurements.
• Resolve assembly issues by adjusting dimensions to meet specifications.
• Dig around existing utility structures carefully to prevent damage.
• Load and unload equipment and materials.
• Perform regular maintenance and cleaning on vehicles and equipment.
• Maintain paperwork and documentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Education and Qualifications:

• Valid Driver’s License.
• Must obtain a current DOT Health Card.
• Ability to stand, climb, kneel, reach, crouch, crawl, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Join and maintain union membership.
• Successful completion of OQ training.
• Maintain technical license.

Preferred Skills:

• Class A Driver’s License (CDL).
• OSHA 10 certification.
• SWPPP certification.
