Job description

Job Title: Tig Welder

Location:

Elk Grove Village, IL

Pay:

$32.00-$38.00 per hour

Duration:

40 Hours/week, 3+ months

Job Description:

As a Combo Pipe Welder, you will be responsible for using Mig, Tig, and flux core welding techniques to weld various components, primarily focusing on TIG work at this time, in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Select type and size of pipe or related materials according to specifications.
2. Plan layouts, assembly, and welding, applying knowledge of geometry, metal properties, and welding techniques.
3. Use various welding processes such as Gas-Metal Arc, Flux-Cored Arc, Gas-Tungsten Arc, Submerged Arc, or Shielded Metal Arc welding as required.
4. Lay out, position, align, and fit components in various positions.
5. Weld metal components like piping systems, plates, pipes, tubes, or structural shapes using arc welding equipment.
6. Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
7. Perform tack welding, connect cables, and adjust welding parameters as specified.
8. Start power supply, strike arc, and guide electrode or gun to form welds.
9. Apply filler metal if necessary, and perform weld inspections.
10. Clean, repair, and remove excess weld material.
11. Prepare workpieces by preheating or cutting as needed.
12. Transport and handle materials and tools.
13. Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials during installation.
14. Perform minor maintenance on tools and equipment.
15. Follow safety protocols, including respiratory protection if required.
16. Complete certification and performance tests as needed.
17. Perform other duties as assigned.
