Job summary

Aerotek is hiring a Welder in West Memphis, AR for a contract-to-hire position. You will perform TIG and stick welding on stainless and carbon pipes, interpreting blueprints and schematics to plan layouts and welding strategies.

You will assemble and install various pipes and fittings, gouge to ensure clean welds, and follow standardized procedures on site. Expect to work Monday to Thursday, 6:30 AM to 4:30 PM with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• TIG welding experience – 3 years.
• Stick welding experience – 3 years.
• Pipe fabrication experience – 3 years.
• Overhead welding experience – 3 years.
• Understanding of 6G welding.

Responsibilities

• Perform TIG and stick welding for pipe fabrication, focusing on stainless steel and carbon.
• Interpret schematics, diagrams, and blueprints to determine pipe layouts and devise welding plans.
• Assemble and install metal pipes and pipe fittings, including stainless steel.
• Conduct gouging to ensure clean welds without rework.
• Clean, prepare, and install pipes with various fittings and weld joints according to protocols.
• Identify potential issues during welding and collaborate with pipe fitters for corrections.
• Adjust flames, gauges, and pressures for appropriate handling of compressed gas or water.
• Thread piping and assist millwrights, enhancing multi-skilled capabilities.

Job Description

The welder will utilize TIG and stick welding techniques for pipe fabrication, predominantly working with stainless steel and carbon materials. This position involves handling schedule 10, schedule 40, and sani-tube pipes, using specific rod sizes for TIG and stick welding. The welder will interpret schematics, diagrams, and blueprints to determine pipe layouts and devise welding plans. They will also assemble and install a variety of metal pipes and fittings, perform gouging to ensure clean welds, and conduct thorough inspections to identify potential issues.

Work Environment

The company specializes in process piping for the chemical and food & beverage industries, fostering a collaborative team environment on project sites. Projects may last several weeks or be completed within a day. Employees must wear long sleeves, and after a few weeks, they receive company shirts. Required personal protective equipment includes hoods and steel-toed boots. Work hours are Monday to Thursday, 6:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with overtime as needed. Travel to job sites is required, and compensation for travel and per diem is provided.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Memphis, AR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
